Registration is mandatory for businesses and organisations performing certain types of activity in the waste-management sector, as set out by article 212 of Italian Legislative Decree 152/2006. This is held by the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security and has a National Committee within the Ministry, along with regional and provincial branches, established at the Chambers of Commerce of regional capitals and the autonomous regions of Trento and Bolzano, and is currently regulated by Italian Ministerial Decree 120/2014.
